"Simulators. Workshops. Adventure. Aviation Town comes to places aviation has never reached before — and leaves a mark that lasts for years."

Aviation Town is a mobile educational and entertainment event that the "Lotnicze Marzenia" Foundation brings directly to municipalities and towns across Poland. The idea is simple: if children from smaller towns cannot travel to aviation fairs or visit aviation museums, then aviation comes to them.

At the heart of every Aviation Town are mobile flight simulators. These are not fairground rides — they are professional simulation stations where participants take the controls and perform real flight manoeuvres: take-off, en-route flight and approach to landing. The screen in front of them shows a realistic cockpit view, while an instructor stands beside them and explains each step. For a child who has never seen a cockpit up close, those few minutes on the simulator are an experience that stays with them for a long time.

But Aviation Town is far more than simulators. A whole workshop area grows up around them, where young people can experience aviation from many sides. At the navigation station, participants plan a flight route on a real ICAO chart — they mark waypoints, calculate distances and check which airspaces along the way require clearance. At the meteorology station, they learn to read weather charts the way pilots do — they identify fronts, check whether conditions allow a flight, and discover why cumulus clouds mean turbulence. At the modelling station, they build simple aircraft models from balsa wood and paper, testing the principles of aerodynamics in practice — which wing shape flies further, which is more stable, why a tail is needed to keep on course.

Every station is run by someone who can talk about aviation with passion — Foundation volunteers, aviation students, local pilots who want to inspire the next generation. These are not formal lessons. They are conversations, demonstrations and shared experiments — all in an atmosphere that turns learning into an adventure.

The format of the event is flexible and adapts to what the municipality can offer. Aviation Town can take over a school gym, a fire station hall, a sports hall or the square in front of the town hall on a warm weekend. It can run for one day or two. It can be aimed at a single school or open to the whole community. The Foundation tailors the scale and programme to local needs and conditions — the only requirements are space and the will to invite aviation to your town.

Why do we do this? Because in Poland there are thousands of towns where a child's only contact with aviation is the sight of a plane in the sky. No aviation museums nearby, no flying clubs with children's programmes, no events where you can sit at the controls — even virtual ones. Aviation Town breaks that barrier. It comes to places aviation has never reached before, and gives young people a chance to make first contact with an industry that is growing in Poland faster than ever.

Every edition of Aviation Town is also an impulse for the local community. Parents come with their children and discover for themselves that a flight simulator is not just fun — it is a window onto a world where their children might one day work. Local teachers see how physics, geography and mathematics can be taught in a way that really engages students. And the municipality gains an event that people talk about — because Aviation Town is not just another talk, it is an experience that makes an impression.

The "Lotnicze Marzenia" Foundation runs Aviation Towns regularly, visiting one municipality after another across Poland. Every event is documented, and the experience gained feeds back into the programme. Our goal is for Aviation Town to visit dozens of towns over the next few years — and for at least one child in each of them to say after our visit: "I want to fly".

Invitation

How to invite Aviation Town
to your municipality?

Aviation Town comes by invitation — from a municipality, school, cultural centre or local organisation. If you would like us to visit your town, get in touch. Together we will agree on the date, the scale of the event and the funding model:

  • 1External funding — we help secure resources from grant and local-government programmes
  • 2Municipality or school budget — co-financing from local education or culture funds
  • 3Local sponsorship — engaging local businesses as event partners
  • 4Mixed model — tailored to what your municipality can offer

Frequently asked questions

Date, venue, funding — answers to the questions we hear most often from municipalities and schools.

1When can we invite Aviation Town?
We run events all year round, but most editions take place between April and October, when an outdoor workshop area is easier to set up. Dates are agreed individually — we usually ask for 2–4 months' notice so we can finalise logistics and, if needed, secure external funding. If you are aiming at a specific date (municipality days, family festival, start of the school year), please mention it in the form.
2How long does the event last?
A standard Aviation Town runs for one day (6–8 hours) or two days, depending on the scale, the number of participants and the organiser's goals. The one-day version works well for municipal events and festivals; the two-day version lets us cover several schools and the wider community over a weekend.
3Where can Aviation Town be hosted?
The format is flexible. Past editions have taken place in school gyms, sports halls, fire-station halls, cultural-centre venues and on town-hall squares in the warm season. We need around 150–300 m² of space with access to power, the ability to dim part of the room (for the simulators) and toilets for participants. We are happy to assess your proposed venue — just describe it in the form.
4Who is the event for and how many people can take part?
The main target group is children and youth aged 8–18, but the programme can be adapted for younger participants and whole families. A one-day edition typically serves 100–250 participants in the workshops, while the open simulator zone in walk-up mode can reach many more. We tailor the scale to the number of schools enrolled and to the character of the event.
5How much does Aviation Town cost?
The cost depends on the scale (one- or two-day edition), the number of participants, the location and the scope of workshops. Once we receive your enquiry we prepare an individual quote with a transparent breakdown (logistics, equipment, staff, materials). We do not publish a fixed price list, because every municipality has different needs and budgets.
6How can the event be funded?
We work in four models, which can be combined: (1) external funding — we help secure resources from grant, local-government and ministerial programmes; (2) municipality or school budget — through education or culture funds; (3) local sponsorship — engaging local businesses as event partners; (4) a mixed model tailored to what your municipality can offer. Our goal is for cost not to be a barrier — we look for a solution together.
7Does the Foundation help with securing funding?
Yes. We have experience preparing grant applications and programme descriptions for local-government and ministerial schemes (educational programmes, sport-and-leisure programmes, local cultural funds, and others). After an initial conversation we point out realistic funding paths and help with the documentation.
8What does the municipality or school need to provide?
On the host side we usually need: a venue or space, access to power, promotion through local channels (municipality website, social media, schools), a contact coordinator and — if possible — volunteer support for participant flow. The Foundation provides the simulation equipment, instructor staff, workshop materials and the overall programme.
